HOW TO UPDATE / UPGRADE A THEME OR PLUGIN IN WP MANUALLY?

First thing you can not upgrade / update throughout the regular upload file in wordpress, you have to delete the plugin or theme (not child) and then upload a new one.

When you trying to update plugin or theme from a .Zip file you will get error.

How to Upgrade a WP Theme?

  1. Download the latest .zip file of theme.
  2. Log into your WordPress website.
  3. Go to Appearance ->> Themes.
  4. Click the Add New button (top of page).
  5. Click the Upload Theme button  (top ).
  6. Select the downloaded .ZIP file.
  7. Click the Install Now button.

How to Upgrade a WP Plugin?

  1. Download the latest .zip file of plugin.
  2. Log into your WordPress website.
  3. Go to Plugins ->> Add New.
  4. Click the Upload Plugin button  (TOP OF THE PAGE).
  5. Select the downloaded .zip file.
  6. Click the Install Now button.
